Dr. Shaikha Almazrouei earned her PhD from King’s College London. There, she studied liver transplant using hepatocyte microbes. This groundbreaking research trained her to push the boundaries of regenerative medicine.
She Also Holds Two Degrees from UAEU
She also holds an MSc from UAEU. In her master’s program, she researched the genetic basis of familial hypercholesterolemia. Additionally, she earned a BSc in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the same institution.
Dr. Shaikha Almazroueir Belongs to Three Prestigious International Organizations
First, she serves as an active member of the International Stem Cells Research Association (ISCCR). Second, she belongs to the International Society of Cell and Gene Therapy. Finally, she holds membership in the International Cryobiology Society.
She Leads the UAE Stem Cell Group
Dr. Almazrouei currently serves as the Head of the UAE Stem Cell Group. In this role, she brings together local experts and drives stem cell research forward.
Dr. Shaikha Almazroueir Leads Research at Abu Dhabi’s Top Innovation Institute
She also works as a Lead Researcher with the Biotechnology Research Centre at the Abu Dhabi Technology Innovation Institute. There, she develops cutting-edge research in regenerative medicine and genomics. For example, she prepares advanced labs. She also establishes research collaborations with international research institutions alongside her colleagues.
She Has Contributed to Major National Projects
Her work has shaped several high-profile projects across the UAE. For instance, she helped establish the Emirate Genome project with G42. She also helped establish DNA fingerprinting for the UAE Armed Forces. Furthermore, she contributed to the AD Police fingerprint unit. Before these roles, she worked as a research assistant at Khalifa University.
Dr. Shaikha Almazroueiri is Building a Pan-Arab Research Community
She dedicates herself to empowering biotechnology researchers in the UAE. But she doesn’t stop there. She now works together with regenerative medicine and stem cell experts from across the Arab world. Together, they are establishing the Arab Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Society. Their goal? To join collaborative efforts in regenerative medicine across the region.
