Let me ask you something.

When was the last time you wore a special piece of jewellery simply because it made you happy? Not because you had an event, but just because you love it. If you are like most women, I already know the answer. Somewhere in your jewellery box is a piece you’re saving that you absolutely adore but never reach for on an ordinary day, because our modern lifestyle tells us that practicality should come first and that special jewellery should be reserved for later. Yet, when exactly is later?

Every few years, somebody announces that jewellery is becoming less relevant, and the reason is usually the same. We, women, are more practical now. We are investing in experiences instead of possessions. We are simplifying our lives. We are choosing comfort over adornment.

Why Jewellery Still Matters in Modern Life

And every time I hear this, I find myself looking around and wondering whether we are all observing the same world. Because from where I stand, women have never been more interesting. You are running a company, you are building a career, you are raising a family, you are travelling, you are reinventing yourself, and you are carrying more responsibilities than ever before. You are a modern, practical woman, but you are also ambitious, curious, expressive, creative, and wonderfully complex.

So why should your new mode of life exclude jewellery? It never did for women before. Throughout history, jewellery has accompanied us through every chapter of life. It has survived changing fashions, economic crises, technological revolutions, and social upheavals. Jewellery has crossed continents and passed through generations and adapted to every new era while remaining completely relevant.

Jewellery is Not About Necessity.

That history and longevity deserve your attention. Jewellery has never been about necessity. You don’t need a diamond ring in the same way you need food and shelter. You don’t need sapphire earrings to survive. But then again, survival has never been humanity’s ultimate goal. We do not simply survive. We seek beauty, we create it, collect it, and surround ourselves in it. And jewellery remains one of the most intimate forms of beauty we can own. It moves with you and becomes part of your physical presence. It catches light when you move and accompanies you through ordinary moments and extraordinary moments alike.

And that is why I often feel disappointed when I see beautiful pieces sitting unworn inside jewellery boxes. Every designer knows this feeling. A woman falls in love with a piece. She chooses it carefully and imagines herself wearing it. She takes it home. And then she saves it for a future event. Months will pass, and it remains untouched. And that is a shame.

Jewellery Was Created to Participate in Life.

You are not trying to impress anybody. You are choosing beauty for yourself. For life itself. Your jewellery is not reserved exclusively for special occasions. I don’t know if it’s the pace of modern life or the influence of minimalism, but whatever the reason is, so much jewellery now sits in drawers rather than on its owners.

Therefore, I am on a mission to make women fall in love with jewellery again. I am on a mission to bring it out from years of hiding in safes and let your favourite pieces accompany you through your life until they become inseparable from your memories. Let them catch sunlight and let them come alive through wear.

And now I have a small request. Open your jewellery box. Choose the necklace you always save, or the earrings you keep forgetting you have. Put on that ring you love. Then go about your day. And if they make your day feel more beautiful and more joyful, then perhaps that is reason enough to wear it. Not someday. Today.
