Alexa Fortune is a South African Author who recently self-published her first poetry book: ‘Hearts Breaking Free’.
Growing up in Cape Town, her parents always gave her the best education and opportunities to encourage her to reach her full potential. She attended the German School since she was 11 and completed a student exchange year in Germany at the young age of 15. These were positive childhood experiences and opportunities that shaped her mindset and propelled her to trust her own unique career path. After completing her bachelor’s degree in Neuropsychology and German Literature, she then graduated with her Honours Degree in German Language and Literature at the University of Cape Town.
Her debut book and passion project Hearts Breaking Free was self-published in June 2022. This book is an ode to many impactful relationships that have shaped and enlightened her during her childhood and adolescent years. It explores themes related to love, loss, friendships, coming-of-age anecdotes, racism, enlightenment, ultimately loving oneself, and following one’s calling.
Alexa spends her free time journaling, scrapbooking, traveling at any opportunity, mentoring aspiring writers in her community, and using her everyday encounters to inspire potential projects. She hopes to utilize her writing skills in bigger projects one day and connect with many like-minded Indie Authors and female entrepreneurs.
