Rachelle Antoun: Balancing Family, Career, and Community with Passion and Purpose

Balancing Family, Career, and Community with Passion and Purpose:

Rachelle Antoun considers her greatest achievement and pride to be her three children. Above all, she cherishes her role as a wife and mother. A wise person once told her, “You can create stability, and you can achieve success, but family is everything and above all considerations.”

Rachelle’s journey began in her childhood. Raised in a small, warm family with loving parents, she often played doctor with her dolls and friends, nurturing a passion for healing. This early inclination led her to pursue a career in the medical field. She chose to major in pharmacy, dedicating herself to years of rigorous study. Her academic journey coincided with a turbulent period marked by the assassinations of 2005, the July War of 2006, and subsequent challenges in 2007. Despite these hardships, she completed her studies. During this time, she met her life partner, and they married shortly after her graduation.

Her husband’s career took them to Africa, where Rachelle initially found herself alone in a foreign country. However, her adaptability enabled her to thrive, quickly building a new life filled with friendships across cultures. She became an active member of the Café Francophone community. After a year and a half, she returned to Lebanon to deliver her first child, a baby girl, and settled there while her husband’s work required constant travel. This situation placed much of the responsibility for their family and children on her shoulders.

Despite these challenges, Rachelle never abandoned her passion for her career. She founded a medical company that now offers over 60 parapharmaceutical products, including natural and organic options for hair care, face care, dental care, lip care, body care, and intimate care. By chance, she also entered academia and became a university instructor.

Rachelle’s career expanded into media as well. She created an educational platform to inform the public about medications, their side effects, risks, and benefits. This work led to a radio show she hosted twice a week, as well as regular guest appearances on television programs. Additionally, she was chosen to join the social and cultural committee of the Lebanese Order of Pharmacists.

Her commitment to community service is reflected in her work with the Lebanese Red Cross, where she serves as the chief of the Kobayat branch, overseeing disaster management, risk reduction, and the central depot that supports the Akkar region. Inspired by her family’s dedication to public service, she became part of an organization called Insan, a non-charitable foundation focused on youth education and empowerment. The organization operates a non-profit basketball and football academy for 300 children, runs a women’s empowerment program offering training and job opportunities in food processing, and organizes large-scale community events like the Christmas Village and Eid Al Saydeh festivals in Kobayat.

Currently, Rachelle is pursuing further education. Thirteen years after her graduation, she is completing her doctorate in Hospital Pharmacy, which she expects to finish by mid-June. She has also been accepted into a PhD program in Public Health, starting next year.

In summary, Rachelle believes that education is the only true security, helping others brings lasting satisfaction, and family is the cornerstone of everything.
