Self-Awareness: A Challenging Step for Many
Most of us are on autopilot and don’t even know it. In Neuro-Linguistic programming ( NLP) , we refer to this as “programmed” by society and environment from an early age in life . We are locked in our thoughts, beliefs, habits, and behaviors. And that kind of hardwiring is tough to rewire and it may be difficult for people to know themselves.
People often try to block unwanted thoughts and feelings through conscious suppression. They may also use unconscious repression. The success of these attempts is controversial.
